Why Washington Sundar Won't Play IND vs ENG ODI Series Decider: Details Inside

Washington Sundar Injured: India seem to have suffered a significant setback ahead of the third and final ODI against England at Lord's, with Washington Sundar, as per ESPNCricinfo, ruled out due to a leg injury. The all-rounder picked up the issue during the second ODI in Cardiff and was unable to take the field during England's run chase after receiving treatment while batting. With the three-match series level at 1-1, India's team management must now rethink its balance for the decisive encounter.

Injury Ends Sundar's ODI Series

Sundar's injury became apparent during India's innings in Cardiff.

During a break in play, the all-rounder was seen receiving medical attention, with the team physio strapping his thigh before he resumed batting.

Although he briefly continued, Washington looked uncomfortable throughout his stay at the crease.

After scoring just two runs from five deliveries, he walked back to the pavilion in visible discomfort and did not return to the field for the remainder of the match.

India Face Selection Headache

Sundar had already made a telling impact earlier in the series. In the opening ODI, he struck the winning runs with a six that also completed his half-century, helping India secure victory before England bounced back in Cardiff to level the series.

His absence would leave India short of a genuine spin-bowling all-rounder.

The visitors do not have a direct replacement in the squad, while fellow all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy are already unavailable because of injuries.

India's concerns do not end there. KL Rahul also missed the second ODI due to illness, forcing Ishan Kishan into the playing XI. Should Rahul fail to recover in time, India could head into the Lord's decider without two key members of their preferred XI.

With the series on the line, India's selection choices will now be under even greater scrutiny as they attempt to finish the tour with an ODI series victory.

IT exports hit record USD4.6bn

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s information technology (IT) and telecom exports remittances reached to a record USD4.6 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, but fell short of the government’s ambitious USD5 billion target. According to official figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) , IT and telecom export remittances increased from USD3.814 billion in fiscal year 2024-25 to USD4.6 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, registering an annual growth of around 20.6 percent. The sector ended the fiscal year on a strong note, with June 2026 exports rising to USD416 million, compared with USD373 million in May 2026 and USD339 million in June 2025, reflecting both month-on-month and year-on-year growth. READ MORE: FY26 IT exports rise to over USD4.5bn Earlier, data released by the SBP showed IT and telecom export remittances had dipped to USD 373 million in May from the record USD 423 million in April, an 11.8 percent monthly decline after consecutive months of exceptional performance. During the first eleven months (July-May) of 2025-26, cumulative IT and telecom export remittances had reached USD 4.184 billion, compared with USD 3.475 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year, posting growth of over 20 percent. The sector had witnessed some volatility during the fiscal year, with exports easing from USD 437 million in December 2025 to USD 374 million in January and USD 365 million in February, before rebounding to USD 413 million in March and hitting a record USD 423 million in April. Despite missing the USD 5 billion target, the IT sector remained one of Pakistan’s best-performing export industries, supported by rising global demand for software and IT-enabled services, growing freelance earnings, and the expanding international presence of Pakistani technology companies. Harry Belafonte’s legacy takes center stage at The Jazz Loft

By Julianne Mosher Visitors to The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook can now explore the remarkable life and career of one of America’s most influential entertainers and activists through a new exhibit dedicated to Harry Belafonte. The exhibit, which opened last month and will remain on display through the end of 2026, features a collection of personal artifacts, recordings, awards and correspondence that chronicle Belafonte’s journey from aspiring actor to global music star and civil rights leader. “We tried to tell the story of Harry Belafonte’s rather long and impressive life and career,” said Dr. Thomas Manuel, founder and President of The Jazz Loft. Among the items on display are schoolbooks from Belafonte’s time studying at The New School in New York City, where he took acting classes under renowned theater director Erwin Piscator. The exhibit also includes instruments Belafonte performed with, including a set of Cuban talking drums, as well as his first recording, a 78 rpm record of “Lean On Me,” a song he wrote himself. “A lot of people don’t know that in his early career he wrote a lot of his own material,” Manuel said. The exhibit highlights the many facets of Belafonte’s life. Alongside memorabilia from his music and acting careers are items that showcase his lifelong commitment to social justice and civil rights. Visitors can view correspondence from Coretta Scott King following the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of Belafonte’s closest friends and allies. “There was Harry the singer, there was Harry the actor, and then, of course, there was Harry the activist,” Manuel said. Awards recognizing Belafonte’s humanitarian work are displayed throughout the gallery, including one crafted from wood salvaged from Sierra Leone that had been used in the construction of the historic slave ship Amistad. The exhibit also sheds light on lesser-known moments in Belafonte’s life. One display showcases how television host Ed Sullivan publicly supported the performer during the McCarthy era when false accusations threatened to derail his career. According to Manuel, Sullivan invited Belafonte onto his show and famously held his hand on camera as a visible show of support. “What he was saying was, ‘I’m standing with this man,’” Manuel said. “It was a huge moment.” Another section explores Belafonte’s creative talents beyond music. Manuel noted that the entertainer designed many of his own stage costumes, helping to create the distinctive image that became synonymous with his performances. “He was a very creative, artistic guy,” Manuel said. “Not just the singing, but visually articulate. The collection became part of The Jazz Loft’s permanent holdings after a donor helped the museum acquire items from an auction following Belafonte’s death in 2023. Manuel said the opportunity was impossible to pass up. While Belafonte is the museum’s newest featured exhibit, visitors will find several other recent additions throughout the building. A newly installed Lou Rawls exhibit showcases awards, personal memorabilia and selections from the singer’s extensive music library. Another recent display honors legendary drummer Elvin Jones, featuring artifacts from his career with John Coltrane and tracing the evolution of the drum set from the 1920s through the modern era. The new exhibits join existing displays dedicated to artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin and Keely Smith, creating a broad look at the performers who helped shape American music. Located in the heart of Stony Brook Village at 275 Christian Avenue,The Jazz Loft is one of only five jazz museums in the United States and presents more than 265 live performances annually. Manuel said the institution’s unique combination of museum exhibits and live music allows visitors to experience history in a way few other venues can offer. “It’s exciting to literally hear the music come to life,” he said.
